EPA Wasted Food Support

This program will raise awareness for how our local community can replicate the Environmental Protection Agency’s Wasted Food Scale. ICT Food Rescue will be a leader and change maker in how food waste practices can create a local impact to support the health of our environment. This program will highlight partnerships such as the non profit organizations that ICTFR distributes unavoidable food surplus to, upcycling education for leftovers, feeding animals, gardening methods, and composting methods that correspond with the EPA Food Waste Pathways.

ICT Food Rescue will create educational material on transforming food surplus into new meals. This education will include upcycling common leftovers and kitchen practices to reduce waste. This content will be featured on social media to get the common consumer’s attention. For many consumers food surplus can occur often and even more often around major holidays when planning to feed more than their typical households.

Additional education that will be presented by ICTFR will include, but is not limited to, best practices for meal planning, conservative shopping habits, leaving produce unharvested, feeding animals, and composting methods.
